Terrifying and Unusual Horizontal Tornado Seen in Virginia
It might not have been the first, but a “horizontal tornado” was spotted in Virginia. The strange looking cloud rolled through the sky, frightening anyone that had the good sense to keep an eye on the weather.
The weather phenomenon is known as a “roll cloud,” is caused by certain changes in the temperature and wind… and it’s one of the most intimidating things you could ever glance up and see.
The roll cloud was was seen at the National Weather Service station…
And made its way over to Dulles…
Although it looked terrifying, the only thing this cloud was signaling was a few showers.
The “roll” cloud is also known as an arcus cloud.
Because of the wind and temperature change, the clouds roll over one another, causing the unsettling sight.
